FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - First Amendment Gallery is pleased to announce, “6th & Howard,” a site-specific solo exhibition by San Francisco artist, Chad Hasegawa.

The inspired local pays a visit to some old stomping grounds and shares his memories and projections of the area and it’s cultures. A visual conversation with our very own infamous neighborhood, “6th & Howard” is a postcard to an old friend sealed by Hasegawa’s exuberantly colorful punches. Figuratively and literally dictated by the very streets that nurtured Hasegawa’s sorted art aspirations, this exhibition will display his latest paintings as well as installation works that reflect Hasegawa’s vast and ever-expanding cultural visions of the city he has called home for two decades and counting.

Chad Hasegawa (b. Honolulu, HI) is a painter and muralist with roots in San Francisco graffiti since the end of the 20th century. Hasegawa has steadily carved a name for himself within the contemporary abstract expressionist movements of the last 20 years, often wielding a style that is powerful, familiar, and gestural. While Hasegawa originally earned his BFA in advertising, it has been his resourceful and larger-than-life approach to creating that has led to opportunities like the 2013 Artist Residency at San Franicisco’s Recology Center and a number of community-centered mural projects across the country.

First Amendment Gallery invites you to join us for the opening reception of  “6th & Howard” on Saturday September 7th from 7-10pm at 1000 Howard St. San Francisco. For further inquiries on the artist or available works, please contact info@1amsf.com.
